Tele Columbus expands Gigabit availability for PŸUR customers

German cable operator Tele Columbus has provided an update on the expansion of Gigabit broadband availability.

The company said that expansion of gigabit broadband for PŸUR brand customers is progressing rapidly, with an extension to 200,000 other households in Brandenburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.

Customers of PŸUR in Altenburg, Bernau near Berlin, Eberswalde, Dresden, Halle (Saale) and Nettetal can now access Gigabit services.

The technical upgrade of the operator’s cable networks to DOCSIS 3.1 has enabled it to offer 1Gbps broadband.

Currently, 85% of all new PŸUR customers choose bandwidths of 200 Mbps or faster.

With its nationwide network upgrades, Tele Columbus says it will transfer the vast majority of its households that are connected to the Internet to higher speed availability. As of today, 1.2 million of the households supplied with Internet by PŸUR have already been upgraded to gigabit speed via DOCSIS 3.1, it said.

Tele Columbus offers customers Pure Speed 500 and Pure Speed 1,000 internet packages. PŸUR has introduced special offers such as Pure Speed 1,000 free for the first ten months, to market higher speeds.

The offer is aimed at all new PŸUR Internet customers who sign up for a connection with a 24-month contract. Customers who take an Internet product with bandwidths of 20, 200, 500 and 1000 Mbps benefit from 10 free contract months, including through combination products with an additional TV package.
