Rakuten TV adds TED talks
Streaming platform Rakuten TV has added to its FAST channels portfolio with the launch of TED talks.
The TED: Ideas worth spreading channel, which features videos from influential expert speakers on education, business, science, technology, and creativity, is now available on the platform in the UK, Netherlands, and the Nordics.
TED, a non-profit organisation headed by Chris Anderson, organizes the annual TED Conference and TED Talks, which cover a spectrum of topics including science, art and design, politics, education, culture, business, global affairs, technology, development, and entertainment.
The collaboration with Rakuten TV brings over 40 TED shows to the platform, available 24/7 for free. Highlights include programmes such as: Did You Know…?, talks by leading thinkers, Morning Motivation, offering tips for setting and achieving short-term, long- term and medium-term goals, The Latest in Ideas, which will explain innovative and ground-breaking ideas and Universe of Mystery which focuses on unexplained mysteries of the cosmos.
Four of the shows – Did You Know…?, Riddle Us This, Overlooked History and What in the World? – will be in the format of TED-Ed animated series.
The channel will include a large number of TED talks led by women, including Jane Goodall, Serena Williams, Gloria Steinem, Lizzo, Greta Thunberg and Hannah Gadsby.
