Dutch operators plan joint bid for Eredivisie rights

Dutch telcom operators Delta, KPN, T-Mobile and VodafoneZiggo have joined forces to offer a joint bid for the domestic television rights of the dutch football league Eredivisie from 2025.

According to Broadcast Magazine NL, the move was driven by the aim to “make football more widely available via TV”. The four companies have reportedly made a proposal to the board of the Eredivisie on Monday , which will be considered with the 18 premier league clubs.

The Disney-owned ESPN has held exclusive rights to Eredivisie since 2013, the telco operators aims to bring rights back to Netherlands, but are not requesting for exclusive rights of the football league.

Broadcast Magazine NL added, “The telecom parties act in accordance with the applicable competition rules. ACM was informed at the start of the initiative and will be involved where necessary.”

The sum of the bid or any other further details have yet to be revealed.
