Global OTT revenues to reach $235 billion by 2028
Global OTT TV episode and movies revenues is to increase by $81 billion reaching $235 billion by 2028, according to the latest report by Digital TV Research.
The media research firm predicted that global OTT TV episode and movies revenues will rise from the $154 billion recorded in 2022, with approximately $17 billion added in 2023 alone.
According to Digital TV Research, revenues for AVOD will grow faster than SVOD. Following research that revealed AVOD revenues will reach $91 billion by 2028, this equates to a $50 billion boost from $41 billion worth of revenue recorded in 2022. This growth is nearly twice as much as SVOD.
The research outfit recently revealed its findings for OTT TV episodes and movie revenues showed by 2028 Asia Pacific will generate $52 billion, with revenues to hit $45 billon in Western Europe and reaching $16 billion across 19 Latin American countries. While OTT TV episode and movie revenues across 22 Eastern European countries will double from $2.9 billion to $5.7 billion between 2022 and 2028.
Furthermore, Digital TV Research latest report highlighted the US will remain the dominant territory by some distance. Its share of global revenues will be 41% by 2028. US revenues will climb by $25 billion between 2022 and 2028 to reach $97 billion.
Simon Murray, principal analyst at Digital TV Research, added: “From the 138 countries covered, the top five will command two-thirds of global revenues by 2028. This proportion is down from 73% in 2022; revealing that the rest of the world will grow faster.”
