WBD and Telia Play Lithuania extend partnership around Discovey+
Warner Bros. Discovery and Telia Play in Lithuania have extended their partnership to cover streaming service Discovery+. Under the terms of the new arrangement, Telia Play subscribers will gain access to a broad range of the WDB platform’s factual content across genres such as true crime, reality and home improvement.
Jamie Cooke, WBD managing director for CEE, Baltics, Middle East, Mediterranean and Turkey said: “It’s been two years since we launched Discovery+ across the region. Together with partners, we continue to strengthen our position. We have been working with Telia for a long time, so we are very happy that Telia Play subscribers can now enjoy this content – from original shows to world-famous franchises.”
Vitalija Kibildė, head of Telia’s TV service in Lithuania, said he hoped that Discovery+ would become “a key product in our growth path. Telia Play continues to develop its strategy, creating the best experience for customers and filling the Telia Play+ library, where we have movies, series, animation and original content. Discovery+’s content adds to a currently unexplored segment with its factual content offering.
The Discovery+ content available to Telia Play will be expanded in the coming weeks with shows such as Death by Glory and The Playboy Murders of the World. Under the new agreement between WBD and Telia Play, Discovery Channel, Discovery Science, TLC, ID, Animal Planet, HGTV, Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 will also continue to be available to Telia users across a range of different service packages.
The extension of Discovery+’s footprint in the Baltics comes after the recent news that the streamer will continue as a stand-alone brand in the WBD portfolio, rather than being folded into an all-encompassing super streamer brand.
