MultiChoice ups DStv domestic prices
South Africa-based pay TV operator MultiChoice has upped the price of its domestic DStv packages, with the new prices set to take effect from April 1.
MultiChoice said the average 4.3% adjustment across all of DStv’s offerings is far lower than the projected rate of consumer price inflation for this year.
The pay TV operators said that domestic premium subscribers will pay 4.77% or ZAR40 more per month. Compact Plus customers will pay 5.46% or ZAR30 more, while Compact subs face an increase of 4.66% or ZAR20. Family pack customer will pay 3.24% or ZAR10 more and DStv Access customers will pay 7.5% or ZAR9 more. Pricing for EasyView and BoxOffice will remain unchanged for 2023.
MultiChoice added that its ADD Movies offering is going down in price by 20%, giving customers a saving of ZAR20. All streaming-only services will not be increasing their subscription fees.
DStv Premium subscribers will meanwhile get streaming service Showmax as a value-added service at no additional and DStv Compact, Compact Plus, Family and Access subscribers get Showmax at a 50% discount.
The operator said that the adjustments help DStv to ensure that South Africans continue to enjoy the best value, and unrivalled access to entertainment.
“The pressure that consumers are facing due to remnants of the pandemic, as well as the continued rolling blackouts nation-wide has not been lost on us. These adjustments will help us to ensure that South Africans continue to enjoy their favourite shows at the most affordable price,” said DStv.
