AMC Networks appoints Kristin Dolan as CEO
AMC Networks has named Kristin Dolan as its new CEO, effective February 27, 2023. Kristin is the wife of executive chairman James Dolan, who has been temporarily running the business since the surprise departure of Christina Spade last year.
AMC, which controls AMC, IFC and Sundance TV, as well as a suite of such streaming services as AMC+, Acorn TV and Shudder, is undergoing a period of restructuring – which is expected to involve shedding around 20% of its staff.
James Dolan said, “Kristin is a proven executive and operational leader with a track record driving organisational change, a history managing subscription-based businesses, and a deep understanding of audience engagement and advertising. These are areas of critical importance as we transform our company and monetise our high-quality content. She is the ideal person to lead AMC Networks as we navigate this transformative period.”
Kristin Dolan added: “It’s a privilege to join a company with a long legacy of engaging audiences with excellent storytelling and world-class brands. I look forward to bringing my broad experience—across programming, cable operations, and most recently, utilising data to reimagine television advertising—to leverage AMC Networks’ strong assets and drive the next phase of the company’s growth.”
Kristin Dolan was most recently CEO of 605, a company she founded. Previously she spent 16 years in various operating roles at Cablevision Systems Corporation.
