Virgin TV adds Sky Sports Ultra HD to its content offering
Starting this week, Virgin Media O2 is offering its existing TV customers the opportunity to view live sport in the best possible picture quality by adding Sky Sports Ultra HD channels to Virgin TV.
All existing Virgin TV 360 and V6 customers can add Sky Sports Ultra HD to their package for £7 extra per month.
The new Sky Sports Ultra HD channels, which include Sky Sports Main Event Ultra HD and Sky Sports Ultra HD 1, give customers access to a range of live sport including the English Premier League, cricket and darts. This latest addition to Virgin Media and Sky’s partnership means Virgin TV customers can enjoy a full suite of Ultra HD content from Sky, with Sky Cinema and Entertainment Ultra HD VOD already available.
David Bouchier, chief TV and entertainment officer at Virgin Media O2, said: “For years Virgin TV has offered access to all of the best live sport in one place and at great value, and now we’re offering it in the best picture quality available. With Sky Sports Ultra HD now available on our platform, fans of the Premier League, Formula 1 and a host of other top sports will be able to get even closer to the action.”
Virgin TV currently has around 3.4 million subscribers in the UK. In addition to the Sky content outlined above, its Virgin TV 360 and V6 set top boxes – as well as Stream – give customers the ability to watch Ultra HD and High Dynamic Range (HDR) content on streaming apps such as BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and YouTube.
