Snap partners with BBC Studios to host made-for-mobile content
Snap, owner and operator of Snapchat has teamed up with BBC Studios to host made-for-mobile, short-form content on the app.
Available via Snapchat Discover, BBC Studios will host highlights and behind the scenes content from the studios’ leading shows, including Top Gear and EastEnders as well as science and nature content from BBC Earth.
BBC Studios’ newly created channel Funny Parts will also debut on the youth-oriented social media platform, with its digital-first commissions, Hack Attack and Little Rants.
The comedy and entertainment channel will provide brand new short-form content, and clips from BBC Studios’ catalogue of comedy shows, including This Country, Inside Number 9 and The Young Offenders.
Snap previously partnered with ITV last year to present short-form content to users from the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022 and some of its biggest shows.
Content from BBC Studios will be available to Snapchat users in over 20 countries able to watch new content each week.
Lucy Luke, head of uk partnerships at Snap said: “This partnership continues our commitment to bringing Snapchatters their favourite shows, tailor-made for mobile – whether that’s watching goals and behind the scenes content from your favourite sports team, catching up on your favourite TV shows or news stories from trusted publishers – Snapchat Discover is one of the fastest ways to be entertained, inspired and informed.”
“Our incredible content slate, covering many different genres, will entertain and educate audiences on Snap with well-known brands such as BBC Earth, Top Gear and EastEnders as well as new channels including Funny Parts. We’re looking forward to beginning a valuable new partnership and bringing our content to new audiences on Snap,” added Jasmine Dawson, BBC Studios’ SVP for digital consumer engagement.
