Comcast Xfinity Stream customers can now use Apple AirPlay
US cable giant Comcast’s Xfinity customers can now use Apple’s AirPlay to stream and share programming from the Xfinity Stream app, including live news and sports, on demand movies and shows, and their DVR recordings, directly to Apple TV 4K and other AirPlay-supported devices.
Comcast said it remained committed to providing Xfinity TV customers with more choice and flexibility. By adding AirPlay functionality to the Xfinity Stream app, it said it wasbringing them new ways to enjoy their programming in and out of the home.
This past March, Comcast launched the Apple TV+ app across Comcast’s entertainment platforms, and in June, Comcast brought the Xfinity Stream app to Apple TV devices.
In March, Apple TV+ began its rollout on Xfinity X1, Xfinity Flex and XClass TV.
Apple TV+ was the first app built using a common set of development tools and resources through Comcast’s global technology platform, enabling content providers to design, develop and deploy apps that can reach devices including Xfinity X1, Xfinity Flex, XClass TV, Sky Q, Sky Glass and devices from syndication partners.
Since June customers have been able to ownload the Xfinity Stream app from the App Store on Apple TV, enabling Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD customers to watch shows and movies from Xfinity Stream alongside the device’s other streaming apps, including the Apple TV app to watch Apple TV+ originals, as well as Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and Apple Fitness+.
