Warner Bros Discovery renews rights to Swiss skiing events

Warner Bros. Discovery has consolidated its leading position in the winter sports television market by renewing the rights to FIS Swiss Ski World Cup events.

The multi-year agreement with Infront will allow viewers to watch every FIS Ski World Cup event on Warner Bros. Discovery’s channels and platforms. Live broadcast coverage will be available in 45 countries across Eurosport 1 and 2 with uninterrupted streaming on the Eurosport App and on Discovery+ in available markets.

The agreement with Infront covers four seasons to at least 2025/2026 and includes Alpine, Cross-Country, Ski Jumping, Nordic Combined and Freestyle Skiing. The first events under the partnership include the FIS Ski Cross World Cup, in Arosa, Switzerland on 12 December and the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup from St Moritz on 16 December.

Trojan Paillot, VP, sports rights acquisitions and syndication at WBD Sports, said: “Our reputation as the home of winter sport allows us to maximise viewer engagement around our live coverage and additional content, while also using the biggest events including the Olympic Winter Games to help bring in new fans. By working with our partners to showcase world-class FIS events across our channels and platforms, we are confident we can continue to expand our audiences.”

Warner Bros. Discovery has more FIS events than any other broadcaster. During the 2021-2022 season, it screened over 500 individual winter sport events and brought every moment from Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 to viewers across Europe.
