O2 Czechia unveils win-win deal with TV Nova’s Voyo
O2 Czechia will be the first IPTV provider in the Czech market to offer TV Nova-backed streamer Voyo. From December 1, customers will have the option to subscribe to the streamer, as well as TV Nova channels Nova Lady, Nova Sport 3 and Nova Sport 4.
“We try to regularly bring new premium content to our customers,” said O2 TV content chief Anna Lenerová. “We are bringing Voyo in the run-up to Christmas. We believe its content will make the preparations for the holidays more pleasant for customers.”
Daniel Grunt, Voyo’s chief digital officer, added: “As far as the offer of Czech films and series is concerned, Voyo is currently the strongest player on the Czech market, and we continue to strengthen this position. We offer viewers a range of new Czech films soon after they premiere in cinemas. Our ‘family silverware’ is exclusive projects from the Voyo Original workshop, on which we collaborate with top Czech creators.”
Lenerová called the addition of Voyo “the logical outcome of long-term efforts” to secure “the most engaging content for O2 TV customers”. However the deal also makes sense for Voyo, which faces a competitive battle from the likes of Netflix. Currently the SVOD platform has 400,000 subscribers in The Czech Republic and Slovakia but has set a long term target of 1 million subs by 2026.
