Sky opens 600-strong innovation centre at Osterley HQ

Comcast-owned media and entertainment company Sky has opened a new innovation centre on its Osterley site in West London. Sky said the new addition “expands and deepens its commitment to power the UK’s cultural economy and technology sector”.

The site was officially opened by the UK Government’s Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport Michelle Donelan and Sky Group CEO Dana Strong. Strong said: “Sky is part of the UK’s thriving cultural economy. Our new Innovation Centre shows that our commitment to UK technology and talent has never been stronger.”

Sky’s Osterley HQ is home to over 8,000 staff, including studios for Sky News and Sky Sports. The new Innovation Centre houses 600 tech engineers, and software and app developers creating the next generation of Sky’s technology and platforms.

Sky also opened a state of the art studio complex in Borehamwood last year, known as Sky Studios Elstree. It is also keen to expand capacity at that site, having started consultations about taking the number of stages from 13 to 23.
