Pinterest greenlights cookery slate from French Studio ChefClub

Social media platform Pinterest has ordered a slate of cooking series from French cookery studio Chefclub. The deal is Pinterest’s latest expansion into video – which also includes a move into live streaming shopping, traditionally QVC territory.

The agreement for five shows begins this month, and includes titles such as The Party Table, Everything Must Go, Do It For The Pin, Far From The Kitchen and What’s In My Plate. The latter is a culinary show where participants can earn cash by guessing the ingredients of Michelin-starred dishes.

“Pinterest aims to collaborate with the most innovative creators and partners to offer inspiring content to Pinterest users across the globe,” said Johan Gipch, Pinterest head of creator partnerships, France.

“We are thrilled to announce the launch of these five new original shows.”

Pinterest has long been the subject of takeover rumours, with Microsoft and PayPal having previously been linked with the platform. Moving into lifestyle content fits with the trend towards social commerce – spearheaded by the likes of China’s WeChat.
