JC Acosta out at Paramount

Paramount’s president of international studios, streaming & networks in Southern Europe, Latin America, Middle East and Africa has left the company.

JC Acosta had held a far-reaching role with oversight across Paramount’s operations in Italy, Spain, Portugal and France, as well as all of Lat Am and MENA. He worked on the roll-out of Yellowstone and Star Trek streamer Paramount+, FAST operator Pluto TV and networks such as Chilevisión.

He had most recently taken on additional interim responsibilities following the exit of Raffaele Annecchino, who was put on leave “effective immediately” earlier this summer and replaced by Pamela Kaufman.

‘Global leadership’

Acosta’s exit is part of a shift towards a global leadership structure at Paramount, although few other details have been revealed.

The company added that Acosta’s contribution to launching Paramount+ in Latin America had been “essential” and also praised his work on the deals to acquire Chilevisión and TeleColombia.

Acosta had been with Paramount and its forerunner ViacomCBS for more than a decade, overseeing international versions of Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central and Paramount Network, as well as more recent streamers such as Paramount+, Pluto TV and US Hispanic cable network Tr3s.

He previously held roles including president, COO & EVP at Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Americas, having previously had stints at MGM and Disney.

His exit comes as Paramount looks to extend its global reach with Paramount+, as well as AVOD streamer Pluto TV and SkyShowtime, the joint venture with Comcast’s Sky and NBCUniversal.
