Casey Bloys upped to chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max at WBD
Casey Bloys has been named chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max.
Bloys, who had been serving as chief content officer for the brands, will report directly to Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) president and CEO David Zaslav.
His new title bringing him in line with other brand leaders that hold chairman and CEO titles, such as Warner Bros. TV group chairman Channing Dungey and US Networks group chairman and CCO Kathleen Finch.
Bloys’ new role comes just three months after he signed a new five-year contract at WBD and shortly after HBO & HBO Max scored big at the Emmys, winning 38 awards, including outstanding limited series for The White Lotus and outstanding drama series for Succession.
The brands have also had recent success with the launch of Game Of Thrones prequel House Of The Dragon, which HBO said had become its most-watched series debut of all time.
Bloys joined HBO in 2004 as director of HBO independent productions, before being promoted to VP for the team the following year.
In 2006, he was promoted to VP of HBO Entertainment, rising to SVP in 2009, then EVP of HBO programming in 2013, before being named president of HBO series, late night and specials in 2016, adding HBO Max to his remit in 2020.
