DAZN picks up Spanish top-flight women’s football
Sports streamer DAZN has announced a landmark deal for Spanish women’s football.
The broadcaster has been awarded the exclusive global rights La Liga Profesional de Fútbol Femenino (LPFF) to broadcast the Primera División Femenina, Spain’s top-flight women’s football league, in a five year deal.
DAZN will stream every single match in Spain, with seven out of the eight matches per matchday shown on an exclusive basis, totalling 240 matches per season.
Internationally, DAZN said that viewers will have access to ‘the best games live’, with further access to highlights and analysis of each match, pre- and post-game interviews and other content.
Shay Segev, CEO, DAZN Group: “We couldn’t be prouder to build on our commitment to increase the visibility of women’s football by becoming the new global broadcaster for LPFF. We want to make the players, coaches and clubs household names and an inspiration for the next generation of footballers and fans around the world.”
The announcement builds on DAZN’s position as a leader in women’s football, following record audiences for its coverage of the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL). The sports streamer said that its coverage of the UWCL’s 61 matches last season attracted 64 million views on DAZN and its UWCL YouTube channel from over 230 countries and territories. It carried a total of 168 broadcast feeds in 11 different languages, with the last three months of the season seeing more than 12.3 million unique visitors to DAZN’s UWCL YouTube channel to watch the knockout round fixtures, final, and original content.
