LG expands further into cloud gaming for smart TVs
Consumer electronics giant LG Electronics (LG) is expanding the gaming experience on its latest TVs, adding new cloud-gaming services, and a UI update.
Blacknut and Utomik Cloud, arriving on LG TVs in September and November, respectively, will bring a range of titles spanning classic AAA games, indie titles, story-driven games, sports and strategy games.
Via monthly subscriptions, the two apps offer users the ability to select and instantly play games from their catalogues – both of which add new titles monthly.
Blacknut delviers over 500 PC and console games, with a variety of premium content for families and with up to five players’ profiles. The Blacknut catalogue offers the largest collection of racing and sports games in the cloud gaming space, according to LG, but also well-known games such as Metro Exodus, Overcooked and a collection of Disney games.
Utomik Cloud offers a curated selection of 100-plus games from its 1,300-plus PC games library covering different genres with indie games like Coffee Talk, My Time at Portia and Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion among the platform’s highlights.
The new cloud gaming apps will be arriving starting this month on the LG Apps Store on LG TVs running webOS 6.0 and webOS 2022.
LG’s newly updated gaming UI will meanwhile enable users to find a range of cloud gaming services on the Gaming Shelf, which can be found on the new Home Screen.
Select Nvidia GeForce Now games are already accessible from the Gaming Shelf. The ability to access games from Google Stadia and other gaming services via the Gaming Shelf will be added to LG TV in future updates.
