Canal+ launches new sports channels

French pay TV operator Canal+ is to launch two new sports channels that will be made available to subscribers at no extra cost.

The new channels, Canal+ Sport 360 and Canal+ Foot, will be launched at the end of August.

Canal+ said that its subscribers will have access to an expanded sports offering, with Canal+ Sport 360 expanding the coverage available on the flagship Canal+ offering and Canal+ Foot expanding the Canal+ Sport package.

The channel will include all qualifying rounds of MotoGP, coverage of the World Rally Championships and Saturday evening primetime matches from Ligue 1 football.

The line-up will be complemented by replays of top events and additional documentary and news programmes.

Canal+ Foot meanwhile will provide a new integrated offering dedicated to football that will, the pay TV outfit said, complete the offerings of the established Canal+ Sport channel.

Canal + said that the new group of sports channels would become the home of the major sports competitions in France, including the UEFA Champions League, to which it has the rights until 2027, the English Premier League, with rights secured until 2025, rugby’s Top 14, with rights until 2027, and Formula 1 and MotoGP, with both with rights held until 2029.

The line-up will include two Champions League matches, including one exclusive game, and either a Europa League or Europa Conference League match, all Premier League matches, the two matches from Ligue 1 that Canal+ is entitled to and D1 Arkema women’s football.
