SyFy channel to rebrand as Sky Sci-Fi
Science fiction and fantasy broadcaster Syfy is set to rebrand as Sky Sci-Fi at the end of July.
Sky has revealed that the change will happen at 11am on July 26, with the eagerly awaited series SurrealEstate launching the same week and the George. A Romero-inspired Day of The Dead coming in the same month.
The channel’s content will largely remain the same as before, with flagship titles such as Star Trek, Stargate and Quantum Leap continuing to be broadcast by Sky Sci-Fi.
Syfy is the latest channel to get the Sky rebrand treatment, with Sky Showcase and Sky Max launching in 2021 and Sky Comedy, Sky Crime and Sky Documentaries all presenting a clearer Sky brand identity.
Zai Bennett, managing director, content Sky UK and Ireland, said: “From space adventures to futuristic fantasy, Sky Sci-Fi will be joining the host of genre-led brands launched in the past year and will offer a new universe for viewers to explore. The re-brand will make it easier for people to find exactly what they want, with fan favourites, a multitude of on demand content, as well as a burst of exciting new shows for sci-fi fanatics”.
