Parrot Analytics: Netflix’s Stranger Things a hit in France, Disney+ dominates top 10
Netflix’s Stranger Things continues to perform wonders in Parrot Analytics’ latest look at popular digital originals in France, in a top 10 for the week of June 5-11 that is otherwise dominated by Disney+.
Parrot Analytics analyses the demand for recent popular digital titles across international markets, based on the application of artificial intelligence to expressions of demand across social media, fan sites, peer-to-peer protocols and file-sharing platforms.
Parrot’s dataset compares the demand that exists for each series in this market, against the average TV show. A difference of 1x represents the market average and 10x means a series is 10 times more in demand than the average TV show in this market.
Stranger Things topped the list for the week with a rating that showed it garnering over 106 times the demand of the average show.
The global release of Season 4 of the show in May broke Netflix’s record for the biggest-ever premiere of an English-language series.
While Stranger Things was far and away the most in-demand show in Parrot’s assessment, the top 10 list was otherwise dominated by Disney+, which took five of the top 10 spots for its originals.
These included number two ranked Obi-Wan Kenobi, with over 32 times the average demand rating.
Disney’s other Star Wars spin-offs – The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and The Book of Boba Fett – also figured in the list.
Non-Netflix and Disney fare included number three ranked The Boys from Amazon Prime Video with a rating of over 23 times the average.
