Orange Belgium taps Zappware for new Android TV offering
Orange Belgium has tapped technology provider Zappware’s NeXX 4.0 ecosystem for the launch of its next-generation Android TV-based TV offering.
Zappware provided its AndroidTV Operator Tier solution to bring DVB-C channels and OTT streaming content together in an integrated user experience that is Orange-branded and customized.
The multi-screen/multi-device user experience is powered by Zappware’s cloud-native AWS backoffice.
According to Zappware, its micro-services based back-office architecture will give Orange Belgium the necessary flexibility to scale the system and extend it with additional features.
Zappware also took the role of system architect and system Integrator, working with the Orange team to design an end-to-end architecture.
Patrick Vos, executive partner Zappware, said: “With this next-generation deployment, we are pleased to lead Orange’s TV viewers to the new way of watching content, by providing a seamlessly integrated multi-content / multi-device solution that is based on scalable technology components such as AndroidTV and AWS.
With over 20 years of experience in deploying user-friendly TV ecosystems, Zappware could offer the necessary system integration and program management services to lead this new launch to a success.”
Thomas Parvais, director fixed access broadband and TV services Orange Belgium Orange said: “We have been relying on Zappware’s TV expertise for many years. Zappware’s combination of technology knowledge and creative skills have always helped us create a great customer experience. Together with the other partners that contributed to this launch, we are very excited to further grow our TV customer base! ”
Orange Belgium launched its new-generation 4K Android TV set-top earlier this month, providing access to a range of content apps including Amazon Prime Video and Streamz, as well as access to Chromecast functionality and a new multiscreen cloud recording service.
A new interface offers direct access to local content providers including VRT NU and RTBF Auvio.
