Telstra taps Technicolor for hybrid modem deployment

Australian telco Telstra has tapped Technicolor Connected Home to deploy the latter’s new Smart Modem 3. 

The device is a hybrid modem that provides broadband access to Australia’s National Broadband Network (NBN) and also offers 4G network backup to ensure continuous availability of high-speed connectivity.

Beyond providinng broadband access to the home, Telstra’s Smart Modem 3 also delivers connectivity throughout the home with Wi-Fi 6 technology.

The modem is built on Technicolor Connected Home’s Homeware technology, including middleware management that allows Telstra to automatically upgrade features and functions.

The open systems-based platform enables Telstra to offer subscribers additional services such as smart diagnostics tools, according to Technicolor, allowing Telstra to troubleshoot and optimize the performance of connected home networks remotely.
