Amazon Luna gets general US release
Amazon has announced the wide availability of its cloud game streaming platform Luna in the US.
The wide launch comes after an invite-only access period in the US, which began in October 2020.
Luna is available via a range of ‘channels’, which offer access to a range of different games. This includes the Prime Gaming Channel – available for free to Prime members – Retro Channel, the Ubisoft+ Channel, The Family Channel and others. These channels range from US$5.99 per month to US$17.99 per month.
The launch also comes with the introduction of new features, including the ability to live broadcast feeds to twitch, and the capability to try Luna on Fire TV using an iPhone or Android as the controller through a free app.
Commenting on the launch, Daniel Rausch, VP, Amazon Entertainment Devices and Services, said: “Luna harnesses the power of the cloud, enabling customers to instantly play high quality, immersive games on the devices they already own. Today, we’re excited to make Luna available to all customers in the mainland United States, with a unique offer for Prime members to play free games, new Twitch broadcast features for creators, and a broad lineup of titles for any gamer to enjoy.”
