Vodafone Deutschland to include Sky One in GigaTV offering
Vodafone Deutschland has struck an agreement with pay TV provider Sky Deutschland to include the latter’s flagship channel Sky One in its own GigaTV offering.
Hitherto, Sky One was only available to Vodafone customers with Sky’s entertainment package. The move means that Vodafone customers with a pay TV package from the service provider will be able to access Sky One automatically, enabling them to view Sky originals such as Das Boot, Babylon Berlin and Der Pass alongside forthcoming reality series Dies Ochsenknechts.
Under the terms of the latest agreement between the pair, Vodafone will continue to make Sky’s pay TV service available via its network. Sky and Vodafone have also agreed to collaborate on joint marketing initiatives.
Andreas Laukenmann, managing director residential customers at Vodafone, said: “With Sky One HD, we are integrating Sky’s flagship channel into our own pay- V offering. With the series, films, documentaries and Sky Originals from Sky Studios, we are massively upgrading our entertainment offering. Our TV customers get access to highly attractive productions and the best content from Sky at no extra charge.”
Evelyn Rothblum, EVP advertising, partnerships and distribution in Germany and Italy at Sky Deutschland said: “Through the agreement with Vodafone, we are also making Sky One’s great entertainment offering available to GigaTV customers with the Vodafone Premium pay TV package. I am convinced that customers will love the content. The Sky One broadcasting brand is peppered with entertainment highlights such as the award-winning series Das Boot and is a real flagship of our content portfolio.”
