Telekom’s German TV base edges upwards towards four million
Deutsche Telekom’s TV base in Germany edged ever closer to four million during the third quarter, despite relatively modest growth both in the domestic market and in the rest of Europe.
Telekom had 3.966 million Magenta TV customers in Germany at the end of the quarter, up 0.8% quarter-on-quarter, with the number including both IPTV and satellite customers. The TV total was up 4.7% year-on-year.
TV revenues in Germany amounted to €492 million, up 9.8%.
Elsewhere in Europe, Telekom’s subsidiaries collectively had 5.132 million TV customers, up 0.7%.
Telekom also saw modest growth in fixed line broadband across its markets. Fixed broadband lines in Germany number 14.394 million, up 0.6%, while fixed broadband subs across the rest of Europe numbered 7.114 million, up 0.8%.
Overall, Telekom was able to post a solid quarter, enabling the group to up its EBITDAaL guidelines to about €38 billion, up from €37.2 billion.
Analysts at Jefferies noted that the telco had posted “strong revenues and particularly strong margin” for its businesses outside the US, which had already been reported.
The analysts noted the group’s in-line domestic service revenues, and strong mobile and fixed performance.
