G-Core Labs integrates HESP for low-latency streaming
Cloud and edge solutions specialist G-Core Labs has integrated its CDN with the High Efficiency Streaming Protocol (HESP), which it says will enable low latency streaming with up to two-second delay.
G-Core Labs has joined the HESP Alliance and integrated the HESP protocol into its content delivery network.
HESP is an adaptive video streaming protocol developed by THEOPlayer that is claimed to improve on the performance of WebRTC, RTMP, HLS and MPEG-DASH through a range of new techniques including the ability to start playing streams without downloading a manifest, the use of two streams to enhance channel zapping speeds and the use of two modes to maximise efficiency. G-Core Labs has more than 120 points of presence in 100 cities around the world. The company says that its CDN supporting the HESP protocol allows cybersports organizations to deliver video content to the end users faster than the HLS or MPEG-DASH protocols, while the new solution allows content providers to combine IPTV and OTT solutions to create full-featured broadcasts.
“With the media industry being a highly competitive environment, minimizing latency is your gateway to the future. We are happy to join the HESP Alliance. We will explore cutting-edge technologies together and provide our clients with a modern solution for professional streaming and broadcasting. We are sure that the HESP protocol will complement our CDN very well. Our CDN has already demonstrated the highest performance values in Europe, North America, Latin America, and in the CIS countries,” says Alex Peterson, head of G-Core Labs streaming platform.
