Record weekend for DAZN
Sports streamer DAZN has announced record viewing figures for the first weekend of October.
DAZN announced that its live global sports viewing figures reached a total of over 65 million streams across the weekend. During the weekend, DAZN presented coverage of Italy’s Serie A, the English Premier League, Moto GP, the NFL and others.
The weekend also saw a record of 2.7 million global concurrent viewers of a single event.
Shay Segev, DAZN’s co-CEO, said: “DAZN is using next generation technology to challenge the status quo. Our mission is to make watching live sports easier and better for fans. We are completely revolutionising the sector, championing the fan in everything we do and making sure they can watch the sports they love. Streaming flexibility is what fans want and DAZN is delivering.”
In late September, it was reported that DAZN was in advanced talks to acquire BT Sport. The broadcaster is considered a non-essential asset for BT as it looks to continue its domestic fibre-to-the-premises network buildout. CEO Phillip Jansen confirmed earlier this year that it would consider all options for BT Sport.
