M6 agrees Snapchat deal
M6, the French TV group, has announced a partnership with messaging app Snapchat.
The deal will see M6 make extracts of its programmes available on the social media platform in its Discover tab. The broadcaster will publish extracts of its shows including Top Chef, Meilleur Pâtissier and Recherche Appartement ou Maison.
M6 is the first French TV group to agree such a partnership with Snapchat, with such deals being commonplace among US players. Snapchat has deals in place with the likes of Disney, Bumble and Ticketmaster.
Frederic de Vincelles, general director of programming at M6 said that the deal “reinforces our desire to reach out to all audiences as widely as possible wherever they are and demonstrates the complementarity between social platforms and major media groups.”
M6 is currently in the midst of a merger with fellow commercial broadcaster and Salto partner TF1. The merger won approval from employee groups in July, while the president of France’s media regulator last month said that the deal was “natural” and “comprehensible”.
