FilmBox to launch in Netherlands with Delta Fiber
In a move that marks the expansion of SPI’s FilmBox brand in the Netherlands, the company has struck a deal to launch its FilmBox offering with Dutch telecom provider Delta Fiber.
Delta Fiber, owned by Swedish private equity group EQT, operates the Delta Fiber and Caiway cable networks in the country, having acquired Caiway in 2017. Caiway subscribers can access FilmBox at channel 22 and Delta subscribers at channel 34 in their regular channel packages.
FilmBox delivers a slate of Hollywood movies, classics and popular series to over 30 million households globally. Content highlights for September include historical drama Zero Dark Thirty, crime drama Terminal and comedy Everybody Wants Some.
SPI International has been active in the Dutch pay TV market with its thematic brands, and more recently with the premium movie services brand Film1, which operates four linear channels and on-demand services in the region. SPI acquired the Film1 brand from Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2019 after the latter decided to shut the service down.
Delta Fiber brands currently carry all four Film1 channels and Film1 VOD content.
“We are excited to provide our viewers in the Netherlands with our curated selection of movies and series on FilmBox and proud to add Delta Fiber as the second leading operator to our list of distributors – having launched on Canal Digitaal already,” said Jeroen Bergman, General Manager, Film1 and FilmBox Netherlands.
