Canal+ extends motorsports rights

Canal+ has renewed its rights deal with Formula One through to 2024.

The two season extension is a continuation of a partnership that was first established in 2013, and also includes rights to every Formula Two and Formula Three session.

Canal+ will broadcast every Grand Prix, qualifying and practice session live, along with a post-race debrief, analysis and magazine show. 

The new deal will also see Canal+ broadcast four free-to-air sessions, including qualifying for the French Grand Prix along with the race itself.

Ian Holmes, director of media rights at Formula One, said: “We are delighted to announce an extension of our partnership with Canal+, who consistently produce Formula One coverage of the highest quality. Canal+ are world renowned for the excellence of their output, and we are thrilled to be expanding our relationship with them.”

Elsewhere, the broadcaster has also agreed extensions to deals with MotoGP and World Rally Championship until 2019 and 2030 respectively.
