Liberty Latin America stable growth ahead of Telefónica Costa Rica acquisition

Liberty Latin America, the regional telco that split off from Liberty Global in 2018, has announced an addition of subscribers in the second quarter of the year.

Announcing its results, the telco said that it had recorded 11,800 net video adds for the quarter.

For its C&W Caribbean & Networks business, Jamaica was the strongest country adding 2,400 subscribers. This, along with 700 and 1,000 additions in the Bahamas and Barbados respectively made up for losses in Trinidad and Tobago and other countries. The segment in total is at a little over 350,000 subscribers.

C&W Panama meanwhile added 2,200 subscribers to reach 93,500 making a total C&W subscriber base of 450,300.

Liberty Puerto Rico added 3,800 subscribers, while VTR – the company’s largest operator in the region with more than 1 million users – added 2,000 subscribers. Cabletica added 1,000 subs for a total of 207,500.

In total, Liberty Latin America ended the first half of 2021 with 1.99 million subscribers.

The transaction will create an innovative converged provider in the country. Combined with our fixed business, Cabletica, we plan to deliver added value to customers through expanded product offerings, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and outstanding customer service levels.”
