Broadpeak completes first Cache Orchestrator trial
CDN and video streaming technology specialist Broadpeak has completed the first trial of its Cache Orchestrator, with automatic cache instance deployment and termination, edge cache relocation, and the first inter-cache user mobility tests successfully achieved, according to the company.
Broadpeak says that its Cache Orchestrator offers a dynamic CDN solution for cache allocation on 5G networks, enabling CDN capacity to be instantiated where and when required, without being permanently mobilized, to improve quality of experience (QoE) and minimize content delivery costs.
The Cache Orchestrator offers an orchestration framework that is video-service-aware, Kubernetes-based, fully virtualized, and configurable through a standardized API, according to Broadpeak All CDN instances are deployed as orchestrated containers, in PoPs, or at the edge.
Cache Orchestrator automatically reallocates video sessions when instances shift around, and their configurations are constantly fine-tuned through a centralized process based on real-time usage analytics collected at every tier of the system, the company said.
Broadpeak has partnered with research and technology institute b<>com to provide the mobile network and multi-access edge computing platform.
“We are thrilled to complete the first step in this groundbreaking project and are already working on the next phase of Cache Orchestrator, which will focus on testing the solution based on the latest 5G edge-related standardization. Our next goal is to expand the dynamic placement and mobility use cases for Cache Orchestrator, enhancing the QoE mechanisms via alternative and hybrid multi-access edge computing environments,” said Guillaume Bichot, principal engineer and head of exploration at Broadpeak.
“The key to delivering the best video experience over mobile networks is to bring content as close as possible to the end user. We are very excited to have accomplished the first phase of our Cache Orchestrator trial, aimed at optimizing further the quality of experience on every screen. With the completion of this first phase, we are one step further in bringing the most exceptional video QoE to mobile devices and for fixed wireless access users,” said Jacques Le Mancq, CEO at Broadpeak.
