England-Scotland match sets record for ITV Hub
ITV’s coverage of England’s 0-0 tie with Scotland in the ongoing European Championship was the most-watched match of the tournament in the UK.
The broadcaster announced that the match from Wembley drew a peak audience of 20 million viewers across ITV and STV. This translated to a 79% share of the available audience on Friday night during that peak.
The average audience for the duration of the match was 18.4 million – a 74% share of viewing across ITV and STV.
The match also set a new broadcaster streaming record across ITV Hub and STV, with 4.8 million streams.
While ITV’s coverage was the peak of the tournament so far, it was some way off ITV’s coverage of England’s heartbreaking defeat in the World Cup semi-final in 2018, which drew a peak of 27.5 million viewers.
Unsurprisingly, England has been the most-watched team in the UK. The team’s first match of the tournament against Croatia on June 13 attracted a peak audience of 11.6 million on BBC One, and a record 3.9 million streaming on BBC iPlayer.
