French streamer BrutX begins international rollout
French streaming service BrutX has launched in Belgium, Switzerland and Luxembourg.
The international expansion of the service, which follows its launch in France, is available in the three Francophone markets as of today.
The move is the first part of a wider international expansion plan. The streamer’s founders aim to launch it more widely in continental Europe next year, to be followed by Anglophone countries in 2023, with an ambition to produce two thirds of the content on the service internally in order to secure IP to exploit globally.
Brut, the youth-oriented French media outfit created five years ago by Studio Bagel founder Guillaume Lacroix and former Canal+ producer Renaud Le Van Kim, launched the SVOD service in France in April.
“We are very proud to launch BrutX in Belgium, Switzerland and Luxembourg. This launch comes only a few weeks after the creation of BrutX, which immediately met with very strong success in France,” said Lacroix.
“BrutX’s content offering attracts many new subscribers every day and generates an unprecedented volume of conversations on social media. Our difference is to be able to provide a content offering solidly anchored in the real world, backed by Brut’s global digital media. The success we’ve had in France has driven us to accelerate the launch of BrutX in new countries to which we are culturally close, and we are very excited by this.”
Titles on the service include series Veneno and Adult Material, as well as a range of documentaries and films including Erin Brokovich, Liberace: Behind the Candelabra and All About My Mother.
The streaming offering, which provides a mix of films, series and documentaries for €4.99 a month, expands on Brut’s existing media properties, which are largely distributed via social media platforms.
ISP Free is carrying the offering on its Freebox service, and the streamer is also available on Orange TV as well as Apple TV, Android TV, Chromecast and Airplay.
