Liberty Latin America signs up Velocix to power Android TV-based streaming platform
Liberty Latin America (LLA) has agreed a deal for Velocix to power its Android TV-based streaming services in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
LLA has over 6 million countries across 20 consumer markets in the regions it covers.
Velocix has completed the deployment of its IP CDN, origin server, and recording management software in Puerto Rico, Panama, Costa Rica, and Chile for LLA. The company will also deploy its tech in further markets in the remainder of the year.
Ewam de Freitas, vice president of product and technology at LLA, said: “Launching a new IP video streaming platform represents a major investment for Liberty Latin America. We needed a solution that was proven to perform at scale and that would give us the flexibility to evolve our video services rapidly to meet the rising consumer interest in streaming video. We look forward to expanding Velocix’s platform into new markets in 2021 and bringing our premium entertainment experience to customers throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.”
Anthony Berkeley, CEO at Velocix, said: “We are delighted to have been selected by Liberty Latin America to introduce new IP video services across their footprint. Velocix’s best-in-class product portfolio will enable LLA to achieve their strategic goals and speed their time to market so they can extend their lead in the competitive video segment.”
