YuppTV picks up international IPL streaming rights
Indian streaming platform YuppTV has reacquired international streaming rights to the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament.
The tournament, which is scheduled to start this coming weekend, will be streamed by YuppTV in almost 90 territories, with the platform broadcasting all 60 matches. The deal covers continental Europe, Australia, Sri Lanka, Central and South America, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia (save for Singapore and Malaysia).
YuppTV previously broadcast 2020’s tournament, which was pushed back by several months and staged in the UAE.
YuppTV CEO Uday Reddy said: “With the Vivo IPL now back in India, we are sure that fans are going to revel in the on-ground experience. YuppTV is committed to the growth of sports in the country and will continue to be driven by the power of cricket. Our users can enjoy their favourite sporting event in real time from the convenience of their homes.”
The IPL is set to be shown domestically in India by Disney+ Hotstar, following its biggest-ever season in 2020. The company said that viewership was up 24% to a cumulative total of 383 billion minutes watched.
