Salto and Arte heading for digital-terrestrial platform

French streaming service Salto will soon be available via the country’s connected digital-terrestrial devices, according to various local reports.

According to Stratégies, Salto will be available on channel 51 of the French digital-terrestrial platform from the middle of this month.

The move comes after French media regulator the CSA gave a green light to culture channel Arte’s digital platform Arte.tv, becoming accessible via the DTT platform.

Both Arte and Salto had lobbied for access to the platform via HbbTV-connected devices. Viewers will be able to access Arte.tv via channel 77 of the platform.

Arte is also understood to be in discussions were in talks with Bouygues Telecom and SFR to include the service in their connected offerings, following deals to distribute it via Orange and Free.

The CSA has given the culture channel a six-month trial dispensation for the launch. Salto has secured a similar agreement from the regulator.

Salto, a joint venture between France’s main broadcasters, has also been in discussion with platform operators to include the service in their set-top based offerings.
