Apple TV lands on Chromecast
Apple has finally brought its TV app to Google devices.
Following an initial announcement in December 2020, the Apple TV app has arrived on the Chromecast with Google TV streaming device launched last year, with the app also coming to Google TVs from Sony and TCL.
Google previously said that it plans to bring the app, which offers access to Apple TV+, rentals and purchases from iTunes, and a wide range of third-party SVOD channels, to Android mobile and Android TV devices at a later date.
Content from Apple TV will be integrated into Google TV’s universal watchlist. This should serve as something of a relief to Google, as bigger services like Netflix have opted out of this universal content guide.
The app will also feature full Google Assistant integration on Chromecast, meaning that users can search for Apple’s original content like Ted Lasso and Dickinson with their voice.
