Egypt to expand DVB network with Rohde & Schwarz
The Egyptian National Media Authority (ENMA) has announced the second phase of its DVB-T2 network expansion.
The expansion contract has been awarded to terrestrial transmission leader Rohde & Schwarz, with the company set to equip multiple transmission sites with its R&ST MV9evo DVB-T2 transmitters.
The integration will take place with local partner Integrated Communication Systems, and will see tech provided to seven sites across the country. Three sites will see transmitters fitted with 1 kW dual exciters and at the remaining four the transmitters are fitted with 500 W exciters in 1+1 configuration.
Maysa Kamel, Chairman of Broadcasting Engineering Sector at ENMA, said: ”ENMA selected Rohde & Schwarz for this demanding project after careful evaluation of several tech vendors’ proposals. The success of this project is critical for us and we have been satisfied with the reliability of R&S systems delivered as part of the first phase as well as the high quality of the services they have provided us.”
Manfred Reitmeier, VP Transmitters and Amplifier Systems at Rohde & Schwarz, said: “At Rohde & Schwarz, we are tremendously proud of our relationship with ENMA, which we regard as one of the most progressive and pioneering broadcast service providers in Africa. This second contract shall build on the success of our co-operation in the first phase. It is a clear message that the technology we delivered in phase 1 has met ENMA’s expectations but we will not rest. Rohde & Schwarz is committed to delivering DVB-T2 transmitter systems that will benefit our customers both technically and financially.”
