Parrot Analytics: No surprises in Spain as The Mandalorian continues domination
With The Mandalorian set to wrap up its second season this week, the Star Wars series continues to dominate the attention of audiences with the show clear favourite at the top of Parrot Analytics originals in-demand chart in Spain for the week ending December 13.
Parrot Analytics analyses the demand for recent popular digital titles across international markets, based on the application of artificial intelligence to expressions of demand across social media, fan sites, peer-to-peer protocols and file-sharing platforms. The analyst illustrates demand expressions based on how much more popular a charted title is than an average TV show.
The Mandalorian was the clear pick of the pack, attracting 51.5 times the demand of an average show, while Netflix’s Stranger Things is in second with less than two-thirds its total (30.2 times the demand of an average show).
Disney+’s animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars also appears in the list in fourth with 21.9 times the demand of an average show, while local hit Veneno. Vida y muerte de un icono from ATRESPlayer makes an appearance in sixth with 19.5 times the demand of an average show.
The list is, as usual, dominated by Netflix series. Half of the ten shows featured in the chart come from the streamer, including The Crown in third, La Casa De Papel in fifth, Narcos in eighth and The Umbrella Academy – whose star Elliot Page was recently in the news after coming out as transgender – is in ninth with 17 times the demand of an average show.
The list is rounded out by Amazon’s The Boys in seventh and Hulu original The Handmaid’s Tale in tenth.
