Com Hem and TV4 agree new expanded deal

Tele2-owned Swedish cable operator Com Hem has followed up its framework agreement with Telia-owned commercial broadcaster TV4 with a comprehensive multi-year deal that will see channels TV4, Sjuan and TV12 and pay TV offering C More continue to air on the Com Hem network.

The deal also provides for more channels to be added to the offering in the future.

The agreement means that subscribers of Com Hem and sister-digital-terrestrial pay TV service Boxer will be able not only to continue to watch the main TV4 channels and those of pay TV service C More but also additional channels TV4 Fakta, TV4 Guld, TV4 Film and Sportkanalen

The new deal also means that Com Hem households will be able to view the TV4 Group channel offer via other devices, such as mobile phones and tablets. This also includes those who watch Com Hem’s new digitized basic offer and do not have a pay TV subscription.

“I am glad that we now have a long-term agreement that benefits both parties and gives our customers access to more entertainment. Above all, I am pleased that we managed to solve this without interruption for our TV viewers who can now continue to follow programs such as Idol and So much better,” said Samuel Skott, commercial manager at Com Hem.

The agreement follows a framework agreement struck between the pair at the start of November following a period of conflict over carriage terms that could potentially have led to blackout.

Com Hem and TV4 – owned by rival telcos Tele2 and Telia respectively – have had a difficult relationship over the last couple of years, with a dispute over streaming rights to TV4 channels spilling over into legal action.
