Parrot Analytics: The Umbrella Academy top of the class in Finland
Netflix’s comic book adaptation The Umbrella Academy was the most popular title in Parrot Analytics’ originals in-demand chart by a huge margin of almost three times in Finland for the week ending August 11.
Parrot Analytics analyses the demand for recent popular digital titles across international markets, based on the application of artificial intelligence to expressions of demand across social media, fan sites, peer-to-peer protocols and file-sharing platforms. The analyst illustrates demand expressions based on how much more popular a charted title is than an average TV show.
The time-bending Netflix series starring Ellen Page and based on the comic book series created by My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way, attracted 21.1 times the demand of an average show.
There was a gulf in demand between it and second placed Dark, which had 8.3 times the demand of an average show. The German-language hit series, which recently culminated its third and final season, narrowly edged out third placed Stranger Things, which had 8 times the demand of an average TV show.
Amazon took fourth and fifth place with their comic book hero satire The Boys (7.5 times) and dystopian sci-fi The Expanse (5.8 times).
Disney+ original The Mandalorian continues to be a hit with audiences in sixth with 5.8 times the demand of an average show, while DC Universe continues the franchise trend with Doom Patrol in seventh.
Netflix rounds out the remaining three titles in the list, with Space Force, The Witcher and Cursed all attracting between 4.1-5.4 times the demand of an average show.
