Netgem launches in Ireland with Pure Telecom

Cord-cutting OTT provider Netgem TV has announced an expansion into Ireland in a deal with ISP Pure Telecom.

The companies recently launched a 3-month free offer plan to existing customers, but this is being expanded following its successful trial.

This will see customers able to sign up for a bundle of broadband and pay TV for €43 – with Netgem pointing out that comparable offers from Virgin Media, Sky and Eir start at around €60.

Subscribers will have access to more than 50,000 hours of content, including live TV from Saorview channels, Channel 4 catchup app All4, YouTube and YouTube Kids. The platform also offers access to Amazon Prime video, Hopster, Mubi, Rakuten TV.

Sylvain Thevenot, chief commercial and customer officer at Netgem, said: “Pure Telecom is a really strong local player in an Irish broadband market that is heating up rapidly. This announcement came in the wake of the news that Netgem has acquired French fibre operator Comcable.

Comcable operates on public initiative networks and has 3,500 subscribers. The takeover will be carried out via Netgem’s French subsidiary, with Netgem providing them with access to its VIDEOFUTUR products including the myVIDEOFUTUR streaming service and the company’s 4K Box.
