Netgem to acquire French ISP Comcable

Consumer service provider Netgem has acquired French fibre operator Comcable.

Comcable operates on public initiative networks and has 3,500 subscribers. The takeover will be carried out via Netgem’s French subsidiary, with Netgem providing them with access to its VIDEOFUTUR products including the myVIDEOFUTUR streaming service and the company’s 4K Box.

The company primarily operates in Seine-et-Marne and Essonne, the Somme, Alsace, Doubs, Manche, Lille, Moselle, Meurthe-et-Moselle, and Jura.

As a part of the takeover, Comcable founder Philippe Le Gall joins Netgem’s team in an effort to ensure continuity and brings his expertise in ultrafast internet access.

Mathias Hautefort, CEO of Netgem, said: “This operation allows us to consolidate our objectives for new subscribers acquisition in 2020 and to offset the commercial impact linked to confinement measures, while preserving our objectives of controlling customer acquisition costs, with a cash return on investment within less than two years.”

While it looks to expand in France, Netgem continues to make solid progress in the UK, with the operator announcing in December 2019 that it had surpassed 250,000 subscribers to its TV streaming product netgem.tv.
