SFR and Bouygues Telecom launch box-free TV with Samsung smart TVs
French service providers SFR and Bouygues Telecom have simultaneously launched box-free TV offers with TV services available from smart TV apps.
Bouygues Telecom’s BBox Smart TV offering is part of a triple-play package that provides TV access via a B.TV+ app pre-installed exclusively on Samsung smart TVs.
Bouygues said that the offering was designed to provide greater simplicity in installing and using TV services as well as offering the possibility to access a larger range of content, particularly the SVOD offerings is current and future OTT TV providers.
The B.TV+ app. Will be available from tomorrow, preinstalled on 2019 and 2020 Samsung models. The service will provide 151 channels, 14 catch-up services and 83 pay TV channels.
The partnership with Samsung will enable subscribers to take the service along with a 4K smart TV at a discounted price.
“We are always attentive to the needs expressed by our customers, even if it means disrupting the ways of the market to respond to them. The TV remains the central screen in their homes and their love of smart TV is important, to be able to easily access their favourite content in live, catch-up or SVOD. We are today marking the beginning of a new era in triple-play offerings by making the TV box disappear and replacing it with a smart TV, for greater simplicity and the possibility of accessing a still larger universe of content,” said Benoît Torloting, deputy CEO of Bouygues Telecom.
Bouygues Telecom is offering the service for €39.99, with a 43-inch smart TV available for €49. Larger TVs are also available.
Altice France/SFR has meanwhile launched its own Samsung smart TV app-based offering, with the smart TV itself offered on a hire purchase basis for the duration of the 24-month contract.
The operator is providing a 43-inch Samsung 4K TV for €1 plus €8 per month for 24 months.
SFR is also providing a range of benefits, dubbed Bonus TV, as part of the Box + TV de SFR offering. These include the delivery and installation of the TV in the room of a subscriber’s choice, and a Multi TV option for a second set-top to view content elsewhere in the home, along with hard drive to record kup to 300 hours of content.
