Euro Media Group names ex-ITN and Sky exec as CTO
Euro Media Group (EMG), a broadcast facilities and services provider that is active in eight European countries, has named Bevan Gibson as chief technology officer.
Gibson replaces outgoing CTO Ronald Meyvisch and will join EMG on October 1.
He will be heading EMG’s technology strategy and will lead and execute several of the company’s future-focused technological concepts, according to the outfit.
In addition to taking the lead in enabling the group’s transition to IP-based technology, he will oversee implementation of connectivity solutions and support EMG’s M&A strategy.
Gibson is currently CTO for the London-based news network ITN, supervising among other things broadcasting of the World Athletics Championships in Doha where he was responsible for host broadcast technical operations, working closely with World Athletics and rightsholding broadcasters. Previously, he was responsible for the operational aspects and technology strategy of Sky Creative, part of Sky, following a broad strategic role within Sky’s broadcast technology team.
“I am looking forward to taking on a leadership role at Euro Media Group. It is a very exciting time as the Group has successfully engaged a wide transition from legacy technology towards the most advanced IP workflow. It is such an amazing opportunity to participate in Euro Media Group’s expansion,” said Gibson.
“We are excited to welcome Bevan to our management team as we continue to invest heavily in a wide range of technologies and enhance our technological cooperation across all of our entities in Europe,” said Patrick van den Berg, co-CEO at Euro Media Group.
“Bevan is known for his deep technical skills, and strong performance within the industry, and for being a creative problem solver who has achieved business goals by leveraging the innovative use of technology. This is paramount to our future success as we advance our technology capabilities; and enhance the ever wider set of technological services we make available to our clients.”
