Nordic Entertainment proposes ex-TDC chief to board
Ahead of its planned AGM on May 19, streaming, free and pay TV outfit Nordic Entertainment’s (NENT) nomination committee has proposed that Pernille Erenbjerg, former CEO of Danish telco TDC, becomes a new director of the board.
The nomination committee has also proposed the re-election of David Chance as chairman.
Erenbjerg was previously president and group CEO of TDC, but resigned in 2018. Her departure followed the abandonment of a plan for TDC to acquire MTG’s Nordic broadcasting and entertainment business – which subsequently become NENT –in a deal that valued the assets at SEK19.55 billion (€2.0 billion).
The plan was abandoned when TDC received a takeover bid from a consortium led by Macquarie Infrastructure & Real Assets Europe, which had a different strategic focus.Erenbjerg had been the leading proponent of the MTG plan.
Erenbjerg currently serves on the Boards of Nordea, the largest financial services group in the Nordic region, and the Danish international biotechnology company Genmab, where she is deputy chairman. She is also deputy chairman of Millicom International Cellular, a provider of cable, mobile and high-speed broadband services in Latin America and Africa.
Erik Durhan, Chairman of the Nomination Committee, said: “Pernille’s years of experience of managing a converged provider of communication and entertainment services, and of driving transformational change, will be of great value to the work of the NENT Group Board of Directors. The proposed Board provides complementary skills and perspectives that combine strategic, operational and financial insight and leadership. This balance is vital to the further development of NENT Group’s streaming and broadcast businesses, and to successfully capitalising on changes in consumer behaviour, capturing growth opportunities and generating sustainable value for shareholders.”
