Parrot Analytics: The Mandalorian top for France
Bounty hunting may be a complicated profession, but there’s nothing complicated about The Mandalorian’s continued dominance in Parrot Analytics’’ originals in-demand chart for the week ending March 22 in France.
Parrot Analytics analyses the demand for recent popular digital titles across international markets, based on the application of artificial intelligence to expressions of demand across social media, fan sites, peer-to-peer protocols and file-sharing platforms.
The Disney+ Star Wars series drew 6,242,449 average demand expressions in the country, with many fans likely to be frustrated by the company’s move to push the French launch of the streamer back to April 7.
Netflix’s La Casa De Papel (AKA Money Heist to non-Spanophones) surged up to second place with 5,651,601 average demand expressions ahead of its return on April 3.
Overall, Netflix dominates the list, occupying seven of the top 10 slots. The usual suspects like Stranger Things (third; 5,437,771 average demand expressions) and The Witcher (seventh; 4,358,616 average demand expressions) all feature, while there is also room for Spanish language thriller Élite in fifth with 4,791,627 average demand expressions.
Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale – set in a dystopian future under lockdown following a global pandemic – sits in fourth with 5,135,011 average demand expressions. French viewers evidently have a taste for the macabre amid the global coronavirus crisis, with Netflix’s similarly bleak Black Mirror in 10th with 3,636,147 average demand expressions.
The only other non-Netflix show is CBS All Access original Star Trek: Picard, which is in eighth with 4,302,188 average demand expressions.
