KPN announces 2020 gigabit plans
KPN has announced plans to rollout gigabit speeds next year.
The Dutch telco will introduce internet speeds of 1 Gbps from March 2020, with around 1.5 million addresses already equipped to receive the improved connection. The operator said that it will cover many homes and businesses in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, The Hague and Eindhoven.
KPN said that it will continue to rollout fibre optic in the coming years, and that the new speed will become available to KPN consumers, business and wholesale customers.
Private and small business customers with a fibre optic connection can purchase the new speed via the MijnKPN environment. It also be integrated into the range of KPN Business Market services KPN EEN MKB and Smart Combinations
Babak Fouladi, chief technology and digital officer at KPN, said: “It’s great that we can give our customers access to a super-fast gigabit connection. We continue to provide great broadband services and invest in fiber optics to provide the Netherlands with a secure and fast digital network well into the 21st century that also meets future requirements.”
